Interact with the dynamic poet as she regales the assembly with tales of her glamorous life in Greenwich Village in the Roaring Twenties, sprinkling several of her better-known poems amidst these tales, including the famed "Renascence" and several of her best sonnets.
The program begins with Ms Millay robed, in her study at home, going over some poems and letters. Through this device the audience learns of her views on war, sex, her marriage, etc. Midway through the program, she changes into a gown and arrives at the podium for one of her famed presentations of her poems. The audience is treated to such classics as:
The program concludes with the pièce de résistance - "Renascence," the poem that began her career when it was first published in 1912, when she was 20 years old.
Due to mature subject matter, this program is appropriate for 10th grade through adult. Educational materials available with the program include a brief biography and bibliography.
